View Full Version : 2nd Annual Wounded EOD Warrior Foundation Run @ Crozet, VA
MARK YOUR CALENDAR TODAY!
On Memorial Day Weekend, May 28-30, 2010, the Rock Crawlers for the Preservation of Future Access (RCPFA) will host the 2nd Annual Wounded EOD Warrior Run.
The Wounded Explosive Ordnance Disposal Warrior Foundation is a non-profit organization that offers assistance to our Wounded EOD Warriors and their families in the form of financial relief. The resources provided by the Foundation are above and beyond the budgetary constraints of the Department of Defense and the Department of Veterans Affairs. We believe that families are an integral part of the healing and the rehabilitation process and strive to keep them together during the most difficult of times. The Wounded EOD Warrior Foundation depends on fundraising opportunities and donations. Your generosity allows them to offer "compassionate solutions" to our Wounded EOD Warriors and their families.
Eric Stoneking, an active member in RCPFA, found the need as an avid 4-wheeler and former EOD operator to give back to a community that gave him everything he has today. Over the last 4 years, he has watched his fellow EOD operators go to war with courage and tenacity, while he himself couldn't because of injuries he suffered while conducting mobile team UXO operations in Iraq. Last year, he found this organization that recognized the efforts of these brave men and women. Please join us on Memorial Day weekend as we ride for EOD operators worldwide.
PLEASE VISIT www.WOUNDEDEODWARRIOR.org TO DONATE AND LEARN MORE.
We will also be excepting donations onsite as well and will have T-shirts on sale for the event.

Not sure if I'll be able to make it, or not, but same as last year.... donation scent!
I went to tech. school with folks who chose this line of work back when I was active duty and I continue to work side by side with EOD personnel several times each year at my current jerb.
Thanks for serving and I hope to actually make the event this year!!

Munky, as long as the guys have 35s and locked in one axle they can do a lot. 33s locked front and rear can manage a good bit also. All the above listed trails except patoral (just too easy) can be interesting if you run different lines or breeze right through. They will get their moneys worth either way as long as they are slightly modded.

yeah man, TW crew mostly dont want body damage and are running small 32s so i dont see any of them going. the Mud crew on the other hand who the hell knows with those guys.
Also i had the shitty 33s and welded rear last time. i did alot of stuff dont remember all the names of them but i had a fawkin blast and that is all that matters. Would like to get to the other side of the property this time though. Im in for both Saturday and Sunday this run so i should have penty of time to see and do everything that Lafawnduh can do.

i got back about 9pm or so, unloaded the truck, uploaded pics, got the 1hr 15mins or of video on the lappy. I would like to thank Paul and Alex for letting me tool around with them yesterday was really nice to just have a group of 3 running the trails. I think that the 4.7s and LTB did awesome, and i have learned alot since my first run last year at the farm.
Every one from Saturday.

Howd ya end up breaking it?
@ some point earlier in the day it appeared that one of the welds on the spring perch had broken. thus spinning the the axle slightly, then later on it seemed that the out perch broke and the pinion was dam near vertical. I was up in the field talking with Ben cuz he had just got there and we heard something odd. When Paul came over the hill we knew it was him, but wasnt sure what it was. then i show you exhibit A http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y54/munkyboyiskool/Wounded%20EOD%20Warrior%20Run%202010/100_1043.jpg then exhibit B http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y54/munkyboyiskool/Wounded%20EOD%20Warrior%20Run%202010/100_1045.jpg
not goin to post all the pics here but they are located

my damage report consisted of
1 valve stem
rock rash on front tires, all 4 rims
driver front marker light
driver tail light
driver front fender
driver slider dented
passenger slider dented some more
driver mirror

I has an awesome time riding with Paul and Beau. Paul, for wanting to take it "easy", you had some pretty intense moments. I can't wait to wheel with ya when you are in DGAF mode. Beau, you have greatly increased your wheeling skills and it was good to see you being hard on the truck but also listening to your spotters excellent. Vast improvement! Good job man
I was actually fairly easy on my rig. Once again didn't get through body shop but it was stupid greasy and slick and I have learned that my Jeep is rather ass heavy. More than likely why the D44 is still hanging in there. I am going to pull down the Eaton sometime soon because the detroit is acting like it needs some new springs or something, or just swap in the new 5.14 third I picked up coming through Richmond late last night.
Had a great time!
vapathy
05-31-2010, 02:43 PM
Yeah had a great time, its amazing how much harder everything gets with alittle rain. Alex thanks for the spotting it was nice to have a small group. Much more relaxed. Beau you have gotten much better and are listening more, keep it up. Ben sorry i didnt get to wheel with you but thanks for bring my phone up.
I ended up breaking he spring perchs off which spun the driveshaft apart and broke the ouput shaft. It appeared to have already cracked at some point and finally gave up the ghost. As of 12 today truck is fixed and loaded back on the trailer for the next trip.

Thanks for the non-photobucket pix Ben. I looked at Beau's on FB. looks like a pretty good turn out.
Thank you guys for attending. Turns out one my old EOD buddies from Alaska that I haven't seen since 2003 came out to see me from Atlantic City and even tagged on our little "tour"....turns out there was alot of smokin hot chicks (and of course a few gay men), nevertheless my buddy and I found the nearest bar and tried to make asses of ourselves...
Again, I hope you guys had great time and thank you for attending...I appreciate you guys paying tribute to my fallen brothers....Adam Ginett and Phillip Myers (two guys that Axel read off during his speech) were close friends of mine and we went to school together; so this run meant a little more to me this year.... This year has been a little rough on me, i usually don't show it, i just drink a few more beers and discuss it with the wife....neither here nor there.....either way....Thanks again...
With the combined help from everyone and my company, EODT, the grand total made on the run was: $2780.50...awesome job guys!!! Thanks for attending....
