I want to buy some disconnects for my YJ and I want to get a general opinion of which kind or design would be best and why.

well how much lift do you have? sb links are usually sized according the lift, never seen any that run such a range like 2.5 to 6" lift. i stick with something that is sized according to your lift. if you have 4" of lift get something that is 3 - 5". that way its not binding anything up but you also have some room to go up and not have to get new disco's. and off brand stuff, when it come to something that's related to the steering is something that i wouldn't want to play with.

look at the first gen (around 80$ish) jks disco's if you need them now and that's your budget. BUT if it were me, if you can wait and save some more cash up get the 2nd. Gen "quicker disco's. there are supper nice and around 150$ish but im sure that you can find them lower than what jks says they are.

very strong, very greasable. never heard anyone running them have a problem. just my two cents.

I have a 3.5in lift on my Jeep. The varied range was one thing I was wondering about. Thanks for your input.

Owners of Several YJ's have tossed the swaybar/links and trackbar completely. Unless you have coils, or really soft leafs, there is no great reason to have swaybar links. Maybe another option to consider. :thumb:

i was thinking along the lines of inspections. states are getting more sticky all over, not just Va. if you feel that you can be safe on highway without a sway bar, go for it. there's a hundred bucks saved for other jeep mods. dunno, its all a personal thing as well as a legal thing as well. does Va insp require sway bars? things to take into consideration.

The JKS looks like a good choice. This is the cheapest that I've found them online.

I do not want to run with my swaybar disconnect all the time so removing them is not an option. I want to spend my cash wisely with my upgrade so that I'm not upgrading my upgrade down the road. I appreciate all the input from everyone. Are there anyother brands that anyone else likes?

If the jeep sees the road you really should keep the sway bars and track bars. I know some people that have ditched them and the ride doesn't bother them. I know alot of people who canned them and wished they didn't. I am one of the second group. I ditched the sway bars on my CJ and HATED the ride. As long as I was going straight as an arrow, I was good. Make a turn at any given road speed and the body roll would make you ill. Get disconnects. You will be very happy with them. When you install them do not over tighten the bolts/bushings. Get them tight but don't gun them down. You might even want to grease the bushings a little prior to installing them. Some jeeps with REALLY stiff lift springs that can get away with rolling with no sway bars. The damn thing handles like a roller skate anyways.

I zip tied mine up and have been riding around that way for while...

At first i couldn't feel any difference at all, but when we pulled off the shackles this weekend and greased them... the ride is definitely different now. I'm not sure which is or was the cause yet. The shackles were so tight I needed Wyn to help break them loose and a breaker bar. We didn't put them as tight going back together.

I'm going to reconnect the sway bar and see if there is any difference with it being recconnected. I'll keep you posted on the out come.
