I got my muffler delete in from MBRP Exhaust and welded it all up tonight. The cat was already off, not sure about how, why or when on that one. I fired it up and had one of those, "Oh shit, what did I do" moments. It was hella loud! Got it out on the highway and it calmed down a lot, but at stop lights and under load forget about it, I'm gonna ruin some gasser's day here shortly.
The vid is crappy but the sound is there, turn your speakers up for this one!

I think it's GAY! Any car that is made to be loud by the owner is GAY.... If it has a shit-ton of HP/Compression... then let it be open for breathing purposes... I hate the racket of ricers etc.. there was a Jeep Cherokee that had a gallon coffee can made to fit and it didn't sound any different than that audio clip... Kinda funny honestly...

Hmm.,.. Well to take up some for Tim, I too have straight piped my Cummins truck, and put a full intake assembly on it. It whistles alot louder, and it rumbles a little bit, and there are actually quite a few others on here with straight piped diesels.. Now don't get me wrong, I can't stand the coffee canned ricer boys as much as the next person, but... Before I did mine, I was getting between 17- 18 mpg on a Good day and my Spool time was eehh.. ok for lack of a better description... Well.. Now with the straight pipe, and intake I am pushing 23+ mpg on the road, I have a noticeable increase in power and my spool time is cut in half as well as my EGTs are way way on the low side. So its not always done for the sound. I grew up in a Diesel Rebuild and Overhaul shop that also doubled as a John Deere dealership and Clevite Parts dealership. Everything we owned and worked on were straight piped diesels.. Detroits, Cummins, CATs, Macks, Deeres, etc.. And the sound of one takes me back and just makes me feel good. Kinda a childhood memory. Theres a difference between a Coffee Canned Cherokee and A straight piped diesel.. I respect your opinion on the matter, but just keep in mind that we don't all do it because we think its "Cool". All diesels need are air and Fuel.. Noise is just a pleasant by-product.

If it's any consolation, my Duramax is the quietest made diesel on the market.

WTF are you talking about? That's a pretty strong comment to make concidering your hiding behind a keyboard. By the way diesels have a lot of compression and it is open for breathing purposes, so your kinda contradicting yourself aren't you? If your comparing my truck to a ricer then your sadly mistaken.
I have no problem with you not liking how it sounds, none. Post it up, "Sounds like shit, dude" But to post your homophobic rant about me, and then contradict yourself in the same sentence give everyone a clear picture of who you are. I look foward to meeting you in person at a coffee run when I find myself back in VA, you can tell me exactly how gay I am.
Since we have a gorilla theme going...

That is sweet, there was a ford on the cover of Diesel Power some months ago styled after a Shelby Cobra that had the same side pipes. I'll try to find a pic.
The idea I've had floating around in that gay head of mine, is to run it out the bed fender behind the pass tire. I 'd make a trim piece, get it black chromed, and have the tip passing thru it. I think it would look slick.

Yep Ive had that truck on my screen saver for a long time, Im also in works on lowering my dually a little bit (aerodynamics/miliage) and I will get around to side pipes...
Oh I also have a 4 inch straight pipe setup on my dually but I have a full flow (you see right though it) muffler on it because it was way too loud with out, it still rumbles and yes power increased, when I towing it sounds like a semi, its bad ass when I kick on the engine brake
