Expensive Beer Sells for $100 a Bottle
August 19, 2005

- A hundred bucks might seem cheap for a bit of utopia. But in this case Utopia's a beer brewed by the Samuel Adams company. It sells for 100 dollars a bottle.

Earlier this week, beer lovers got a chance to sample the high-brow brew that the Hop Devil Grill in New York City. Shot-sized servings were included as part of a 40-dollar-a-head beer lover's four-course dinner.

This is a brew to sip not swill. Some of the patrons say Utopias is closer to cognac or whiskey than to beer. The bar bought four bottles of the pricey, 50-proof brew.

hate to say if it was good enough id buy some. most likely though its a marketing ploy. dunno id would have to be the best thing id ever drank as far as a beer.

i did get to drink some remy louis xiii at a party in cinci a few years back. i think it was the best liquor ive ever had in my life and if i was a millionaire id have a few bottles laying around. but at $1300 + a bottle id rather buy an atlas II.

When I have my brewpub--I'm going to have a beer that will ALWAYS cost a buck o' five. Good cheap swill. :) The price will NEVER change.

Sounds good but we need Carrie to be the designated table dancer or maybe better yet "personal assistant" to the Brewmaster.

Kevin will definitely have a permanent stool at the end of the bar. I'll make sure the stool says "LOUD DRUNK GUY" in rainbow lettering.

On another note, I got another tap on my draft tower now so next time you are over I can give you and Jeff remedial pouring lessons. I can walk you right through it. No foam. :flip:

Dude I can send you some Yuengling but be prepared to pay a pretty penny for it.....
TX has some great breweries though....I think PBR is there now!!!! That's some damn good swill! :puke:

You got some SPA coming in the mail too--probably in another 2 weeks I'll bottle it and send it....

oh im willing to wait for the SPA, i know its worth waiting for it. by pretty penny you mean...?? \

when i left it was running (24 pk btls) 14.99-17.99 at food lion or kroger. im guessing there's taxes, shipping to make sure i don't get glass that smells like sweet sweet lager? ballpark?

if not i guess have kevin breathe into an envelope, im sure it would be the same proof. lol.

Sending beer is freaking ridiculous. I just sent off a sixer of my beer to a buddy in Wisconsin and it cost me 18 bucks. Pretty expensive six pack!

Just say the word though--I'll shoot off a case of Yuengling fo ye.....I wonder if UPS accepts loan applications? My grandfather would flip in his grave if he knew I was spending money to SHIP beer....LOL.....

Annual run. Sorry to hear it. Premium is flirting with $3.00/g right now.. Figure in a few days 87 will be there. On my way to School, and back. All the gas stations had atleast 2-3 cars in each lane, waiting for fuel. Worries me a little that people instigated the whole thing to begin with.

its over 3$ here, been averaging an increase ever 6-8 hours. what a crock of sh/t.

Annual run. I'm even reconsidering it now too. Its not the gas prices though. I was browsing the forum on the old club and I just don't think I'm up for dealing with that crap. I don't think I could park far enough away.

jp

i figured we would have stayed so far away or intoxicated that the douche bags wouldn't matter. i really don't care about any of the other idiots that would be there. im would be there to see friends not the shit bags from anywhere else.

id love to go but at min (right now prices) 3.22 a gal x to va and back, hotel cost, food/beer/beer/, etc. its the gas that would eat me alive. dunno, ive got 9 days to decide i guess.

who all from the cool kids group is going?

Steve you could always Fed Ex yourself to Brandon's house, definitely would be cheaper...

But yeah the gas prices alone, I've been rethinking the trip too. I'd need to take two vehicles and I'm not down for over two hundred in gas alone.
And I haven't even sent out the money and application to go yet anyway.

already looked into being shipped, ups and dhl went up to. damn it.

FedEx Express will increase package and freight rates by an average of 4.6% for U.S. domestic and export services, but lower its fuel surcharge by 2.0%, resulting in a net average shipping cost increase of 2.6%.
